Abstract
Teacher's part in foreign language learning is obviously central. In Asian contexts, where learners are stereotyped as 'less auonomous', teachers even become vital-an important source of language input. They, in this case, are also expected to serve as a good linguistic model for the practice of English as a foreign language (EFL) teaching in the writer's local context of EFL learning. The writer argues that there is no compromise for a foregin language teacher to speak the native tongue in the class.
