Abstract

Anthracnose disease caused by Colletotrichum capsici is one of the severe diseases in red chilies. One of the environmentally friendly ways to control anthracnose disease is by using vegetable fungicides. The objective of this study is to determine the effect of the type of noni fruit extract and shelf life of the extract on the growth of C. capsici fungi through in vitro. This research was carried out at the Basic Agrotechnology Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture and the Integrated Laboratory of Microbiology, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, from January to March 2020. The stages of this research consisted of (1) sterilization of tools, (2) making an extract of noni leaves and fruit, (3) making PDA media, (4) in vitro testing of noni leaves and fruit extracts against C. capsici using a completely randomized design (CRD). From the experimental results, it was obtained that the extract of noni fruit and the shelf life of the extract was effective in inhibiting C. capsici. The results show that noni fruit extract with a shelf life of 0 weeks has antifungal properties and can inhibit the fungus C. capsici which causes anthracnose disease in red chilies through in vitro.
