Abstract

The purpose of national education according to Law No. 20 of 2003 article 3 is to develop the potential of students to become human beings who have faith and are devoted to God Almighty who have noble character, independent, self-reliant, steady personality, physical and spiritual chat, skilled and knowledgeable and have a sense of God. Responsibility in a variety of countries and countries. However, the purpose of national education cannot be implemented if there are problems in the process of achieving them. The problems that occur can be dischabkan by decreasing the character of students. The indication of a decline in character values in schools is the lack of courtesy towards teachers and various forms of student's indiscipline in the application of discipline which will result in low mentality of the domestic generation. Bad solution that can be implemented is to strengthen school culture. School culture will help students improve their character in the school both in the learning process and in activities outside the classroom during recess. The habituation includes activities of reliance, health and scouting. Success will be realized with the support of all elements of the school, each of which becomes a source of example for students. By instilling character education through school culture is expected to have a positive impact on the character of students so as to be able to restore the national character values that are religious, nationalist, independent.
