Abstract

This research aimed to analyze student’s learning obstacles in solving of geometry problems. This research used a descriptive qualitative method and was conducted on the research subjects of junior high school students. The data were collected through diagnostic tests and interviews with students. The analysis of the data showed that the student’s obstacles in solving geometry problems are students are less able to understanding the geometry problems, students are less able to transform word problems into mathematics representation i.e. graphics, table or mathematics model and students are confused in solving geometric problems that have different contexts. The results of this research can be used by teachers as a reference in preparing a learning plan that fits the needs of students and can anticipate the possibility of obstacles reappearing in the next learning process. So that it is expected that student learning outcomes can be optimal.
