Abstract

Sexual violence on children is a violation of moralityandlaw, and cause physical and psychological harm. Sexual violence on children include sexual abuse and rape. In Surakarta for example, in 2018 there were 45 cases of sexual violence on children. The question is what causes sexual violence on children? This study aims to determine the causes of sexual violence on children in Surakarta. This is a case study research. Data were collected through BAP (investigation report) through interviews with victims. The participants of this study were seven children who were victims of sexual violence (five girls and two boys), aged between 4-17 years old. The results showed that generally victims of sexual violence had broken home parents and parenting patterns.Access to pornography through social media is a trigger in some cases. In addition, perpetrators of sexual violence can be people around children. Most of sexual violance on children were done by close people. Factors which were found as contributors of sexual violence on children include: family background and poor parenting, and easy access to pornographic content through social media.
