Abstract

Mental disorder is a condition that can change the mindset, emotions, and behavior of an individual. Mental disorders are still one of the main concerns in the world including Indonesia. According to the Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) in 2013 the percentage of people experiencing mental disorders was 1.7% and in 2018 was 7%. Early mapping of patients who experience relapse is due to medication disobedience and the lack of caregiver knowledge. When patients undergo treatment they adhere to taking obedience because there is intensive supervision from nurses. It is important to know how is the obedience of the patients to take the medication when outpatient. The purpose of the study was to determine compliance with medication in people with mental disorders after treatment. This study uses a qualitative method. Data were collected through observation and semi-structured interviews. The participant of this study was six ODGJ, aged 22-42 years, and had undergone intensive care at the RSJ at least twice. They consist of five men and one woman. Supporting informants were the patient's family, and nurses. The results of this study found that obedience to post-treatment patients in taking medication was lower than during treatment. Factors suspected of causing non-compliance with taking the medication include patient rejection and social support. Post-treatment patients at the RSJ tend to be disobedient in taking the medication, allegedly related to the patient's low knowledge about the medication and the low level of social support.
