Abstract
This paper is meant to show the significance of autonomy in the part of learner in foreign language learning. As can be learnt from most successful learners of English, they have learning behaviour in common. Theis effective learning behaviours may have something to do with the so called “metacognitive” strategis – the ones that regulate learner’s learning orientation. Implication of this paper is that to be successful in learning English learners should have sense of being responsible for their own learning and be self-confident that they are capable of learning the language.
