Abstract

This paper deals with the nature of The Communicative Language Teaching / CLT, which according to the writter develops language learners’ as well as teachers’ autonomy. This language teaching approach is based on the theories that language is communication and language is a matter of practice. Therefore, within this language teaching framework learners are not encouraged to be “perfect”. Intelligibility is priority. The teachers are given more freedom in providing teaching activities, even the most “structured” tradition of drills when considered facilitating and beneficial to learning.
