Abstract

This study aimed to reveal the difference between common urea fertilizer and slow-release matrix composite urea fertilizer, which is appropriate for the growth and yield of the choy sum plant. This research was conducted at the Green House and Integrated Agricultural Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto, from February to March 2020. The stages of this research were: (1) Preparation of planting media, (2) Seedlings and planting transfers, (3) Planting, (4) Maintenance, (5) Harvesting by randomized block design (RBD) single factor with the following treatment: (P1): urea fertilizer at the dose of 0.45 g, (P2): urea fertilizer at the dose of 0.68g, (P3): urea fertilizer at the dose of 0.94, (P4): slow-release matrix composite urea fertilizer at the dose of 0.45g, (P5): slow-release matrix composite urea fertilizer at the dose of 0.68g, and (P6): slow-release matrix composite urea fertilizer at the dose of 0.94 g. The results of the study contributed a significant effect on the observation variables for the height of plants at 28 days after planting, leaf area at 14 days after planting, and fresh weight of plants, while for the variable height of plants at 14 and 21 days after planting, the number of leaves, 21 and 28 days of leaf area, dry plant weight, root fresh weight, and root dry weight contributed no significant effect.
