Abstract

Building characters can be seen as efforts created and held in order the students possess behavior values in life and cooperate well either with family, society, nation, or country and realized through mind, attitude, feeling, words, and acts based on the norms such as religion, law, etiquette, culture, and custom. School is one of education ways considered effective to build characters to its students through learning process. Teacher is an important part of school that is responsible for building the students’ characters. Forming characters on the students is not merely responsibility of a certain subject teacher but it is also all teachers’ obligation, one of them is a Mathematics teacher. Developing characters must be held continuously. In building characters, a teacher acts as a model for the students, at least in every teaching and learning process conducted. Teachers’ participation in building characters to the students is known from the teachers’ innovation to design and hold the learning process. Building characters must be integrated with the learning process. The construction of characters during the learning process can be done through the investigation of Mathematics ability.
