Abstract

Character Education is a process of application of moral and religious values to students through sciences, the application of the values both to ourselves, family, fellow friends, educator and environment also to the God Almighty. The development of Social Studies lesson based on multicultural is response and answer to the challenges of diversity, solutions from the many conflicts and tensions motivated by SARA, especially in Indonesia. The building of the character values through multicultural Social Studies will increase the tolerance diverseness and racial tolerance in the students. Multicultural education is an education that upholds the values, conviction, heterogeneity, plurality and variety, anything aspects in the society. This article is compiled with the literature study approach as the substance for (1) Teachers can implement the character values through Social Studies lesson based on multicultural (2) Teachers can build the tolerance diverseness and racial tolerance in Islamic perspective (3) Analyzing the problems of teachers on implementing the multicultural values in the Social Studies lesson and the solution.
