Abstract

Cultivating the disciplinary and responsibility character is an effort to shape the personality of students, so that they have discipline and have a sense of responsibility in themselves. By doing so, the students are expected to have an obedient character and have a sense of responsibility towards the given task. This research is motivated by the interest of the researcher towards the cultivation of disciplinary and responsibility character to the students, namely through the process of Scout Extracurricular activities in SD Negeri 2 Sokawera Korwilcam Dindik Somagede. The formulation of the problem in this study is What are the experiences, feelings and meanings obtained in the scout extracurricular activities carried out by students in SDN 2 Sokawera? The purpose of this study is to understand the meaning and describe the various events and interactions of the students in particular situations in scouting activities. This research is a descriptive qualitative study with a phenomenological method. The subjects of this study include the principal, the scout coordinator, the scoutmaster, and the classroom teacher. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that, the cultivation of disciplinary and responsibility character in Scout Extracurricular activities was already good. The process of developing discipline is done in routine weekly exercises, weekend campings, ceremonies and marching rules. While the cultivation of responsibility character in SD Negeri 2 Sokawera by using the provision of advice, exemplary Scoutmaster, assignment and punishment. The scouting activities are guided by the Basic Principles and Methods of Scouting Education. The supporting factors for scouting activities are adequate infrastructure, a conducive environment, support from schools and parents. Meanwhile the factors inhibiting scouting activities are lack of coaches and weather.
