Abstract

Low Back Pain (LBP) is a complaint that is often encountered by people in general. Based on research in Indonesia, the highest prevalence of patients with musculoskeletal disease according to work is farmers. One of the pain management can be done with a Swedish Massage. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of Swedish massage on changes in the level of pain in lower back pain in farmers. This study used Quasi Experimental research with nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design, which was to compare pain levels before and after Swedish massage. The population of this study was all farmers of Pasinggangan Village Banyumas. The total sample was 44 respondents. Analysis of data used paired t-test. The sample technique used was simple random sampling. The results of this study were the mean value of changes in pain level was 2.818 with SD 1.259 in the intervention group and it was 0.864 with SD 1.125 in the control group. Paired T-Test test results are Sig (p-value) = 0,000 (<α = 0,05). The conclusion is effectiveness of Swedish Massage for changes in pain levels in Low Back Pain for farmers in Pasinggangan Village Banyumas.
