Abstract

Phalaenopsis orchid is one of the most popular orchid and widely cultivated by many people for potted plants and cut flowers because of the amount of flower is more than other, with larger flowers size, colorful and also has a longer flower stalks. A very influential factor in cultivation of Phalaenopsis is disease, such as soft rot disease caused by bacteria Dickeya dadantii. Inducing plant resistance orchid using resistance inducer compounds such as salicylic acid (SA) and silicate (Si) is one of the alternative prevention and control of the disease in order to trigger the activity of defense genes. Applications SA is able to decrease pathogen Odontoglossum Ringspot Virus (ORSV) and Dickeya dadantii, while giving Si able to reduce Blas disease in rice and PBK in cocoa. Application materials inducer general still usingsynthetic materials so that the costs required quite expensive and sometimes still quite rare if all of the farmers as a whole in Indonesia used it, in other side the use of synthetic chemicals for long time have any negative effects on the environment. Therefore, much-needed control of soft rot disease on Phalaenopsis with environmentally friendly through sustainable agriculture and utilization of local plant extracts containing salicylic acid and silicatecompound. Some crops wasproduce SA, i.e. gandapura, rice, Clerodendrum paniculatum and some spice plants, for example of higher the content of SA in sweet potato crops causing the plant was resistant to the fungus Elsinoe batatas. Some crops was produce SI, i.e.rice, corn, bamboo, bagasse and legumes.
