Abstract

Trigonometry is one of difficulties material for student. This article address to investigate learning obstacle in Trigonometry by looking conceptual understanding. In order to do so, we carried out three step of small scale qualitative study involving 10 students in West Java to look for learning obstacle. First, we analyzed instructional material, second we developed three trigonometry problems then we tested the student. Finally, we analyzed student written works. The results show that there are many students encountered difficulties in using pure knowledge when student face non routine problem. In other words, there are epistemological and didactical learning obstacles. This finding can be considered for teacher to developed alternative instructional material.
