Abstract

The efforts to increase rice productivity by using seed technology to increase rice productivity. This research aims to know the factors that affect the selection of certified seeds in rice farming and to know the income of farmers who use certified seeds. Form of data is the result of interview based on questionnaire guidance on farmers. Determining of research location is intentionally (purposive), based on rice production center area and irrigation resource area that passes through Bantul regency. The research location is classified into 5 sections: West Bantul, South Bantul, East Bantul, North Bantul, and Middle Bantul where each district selected one village with total of 50 farmers by simple random sampling method. Logistic regression method was used to analyze factors thay affect the selection of certified seeds in rice farming. The results show that the significantly factors that affect the selection of certified seeds are experience of farming, outside income farming and dammy land ownership status on alpha 5 percent. The average opportunity for selection of certified seeds in rice farming in Bantul regency is 86.05 percent. From side the income of farmers who use certified seeds is greater than those use non certified seeds.
