Abstract

COVID-19 spread rapidly across the world and has become a global phenomenon (Murphy 2020, p.495). In less than two months after the first symptoms caused by the virus were reported, a Public Health Emergency of International Concern was declared by the World Health Organization (Lai et al. 2020, p.2 in Murphy 2020, p.495). UNESCO reported that, by the end of 2019, COVID-19 had caused 3,000 deaths with 500 million children and youth potentially unable to attend their universities and schools due to national lockdowns and school closures in a number of countries (Ali 2020, p.16).
