This study used a descriptive quantitative research method. The sample in this study were students of class XI IPA SMA, consisting of 21 experimental class students and 16 control class students due to restrictions on learning activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The instrument used consisted of a conceptual understanding test in the form of multiple-choice and a collaboration ability test in the form of a questionnaire. This study's data collection techniques consisted of field observations, filling out questionnaires and assessments according to the rubric by students, and documentation during the survey. There are five indicators of collaboration ability measured, namely contribution, time management, problem-solving, working with others, and investigative techniques. The study results showed that the CoI model improved collaboration skills, especially in the contribution indicators and students' conceptual understanding of the body's defense system material in the experimental class with high criteria. The control class with medium bars. Students gave a positive response to learning CoI on the material of the body's defense system.
