Abstract

This research is motivated by the bomb attack that occurred again in Indonesia, precisely in the city of Makassar in 2021. Based on the police information, it is known that the perpetrators of the bomb attack are a husband and wife who are members of a radical group affiliated with the international terrorist group network (ISIS). The age of the perpetrators who are still relatively young, namely those born in 1995, also proves that the younger generation is an age group that is vulnerable to being exposed to radicalism, in line with the results of the BNPT (National Counterterrorism Agency) survey which revealed that the younger generation under 40 years of age has the potential to be exposed to radical ideas with facts. 39% consist of students who are interested in the radicalism movement. The specific objectives of this research are: First, to show the threat of radicalism in higher education. Second, knowing the process of internalizing the value of tolerance through Civic Education lectures as an effort to counteract radicalism among students. Third, it shows the implications of internalizing the importance of patience in countering radicalism among students. The long-term goal of this research is to create a harmonious academic atmosphere in universities, promoting tolerance, mutual respect for differences, and diversity by the motto Bhinneka Tunggal Ika. This research method uses a qualitative approach with case study methods, and data analysis is carried out in stages and is interrelated between data reduction, data presentation, and verification.
